Alts are one of the most controversial topics in SL that I've found. "You were hiding from me on an alt"... "You've been alting around."... "Why didn't you tell me that you had an alt?"...
Well, imagine if you had 26? How would you explain that to your SL partner? Well, you are looking at someone that has 26 alts (Last time I counted, I'm sure there's more now.) It's actually a funny story as to why I have as many alternate characters that I do. You see, I used to be really addicted to these things called "Lucky Chairs". They're chairs that pop up with a different letter every 10 minutes and if your name started with that letter, you got a prize.
You can see where the 26 alts came into play... I have A-Z and then some. I would use my alts to bump the chair so eventually the letter of my name would pop up. They were only supposed to be for the purpose of getting my main character new things. Overtime though, I began to flesh out each alt individually as I found a need. "This alt of mine has a really cute sci-fi outfit and I've been meaning to check out that Star Wars RP sim... I guess I could just drop a few lindens on a skin and an AO."
I guess you could say in SL, I have a bad case of Multiple Personality Disorder. :)
But I decided since I have so many alts with so many different lives going on in SL, I could document their adventures here.
